Today, I’ll share the influences and inspirations behind my award-winning novels, particularly the thrilling genesis of "Forgotten Storm"—the book that started it all!

The Spark of an Idea

Every novel kicks off with that pesky little spark—an idea that just won't leave you alone, like a cat demanding attention. For "Forgotten Storm," it all began with the concept of misplaced memories and cryptic prophecies. This idea got tangled up with the supernatural charm of a ridiculously handsome, yet oh-so-mysterious, vampire guardian.

Enter Nicole, a fiercely independent woman whose past is as mysterious and tangled as a pair of earbuds in a pocket. Her struggles hit home, feeling raw and genuine in a world where reality and dreams mix like a smoothie gone wild.

Character Development

Before I even got around to scribbling anything down, Nicole and Logan were already putting on a mental soap opera worthy of an Emmy. Picture this: Nicole, with her unbreakable spirit and razor-sharp comebacks, going toe-to-toe with Logan, who’s got enough brooding intensity to power a small city. He’s all about control and devotion, like a romantic GPS that never loses signal. Their chemistry was sizzling, practically setting off fire alarms in my brain, long before they ever made it onto paper.

Drawing from Life

Inspiration has a knack for sneaking up on you, often in the most bizarre places—like the shower or while you're trying to sleep. To make Nicole's escapades feel authentic, I shamelessly drew on my own life for material. Her rollercoaster of self-discovery, liberally sprinkled with sarcasm and fueled by an insatiable caffeine addiction, is a relatable saga for anyone who's ever faced life's chaos. On the flip side, Logan’s overprotective streak and his inner turmoil could be the poster child for the classic struggle between duty and love. It's like watching a combination of Fifty Shades of Grey and Twilight, but with more coffee and fewer commercial breaks.

Inspiration From the Spice Factor

For a paranormal romance author, spice serves as a potent potion with a twist! It encourages characters to deeply contemplate their identities. Spice enables me to delve into themes of love, acceptance, submission, and transformation, all while maintaining a heat more intense than a werewolf in a sauna. It's not just about the saying, "Sex sells." It pushes characters to confront their deepest desires and fears, creating opportunities for crucial "aha" moments in their stories. Sex is a complex aspect of our lives, so omitting it entirely in a fade-to-black manner would not feel genuine to me.

Crafting a Paranormal World

Crafting a world where the supernatural feels as natural as your morning coffee is no easy feat. My goal was to sprinkle in the paranormal like a dash of hot sauce—enough to spice things up, but not so much that it overpowers the human flavor of my characters. We've got fantastical dreams, a mysterious prophecy, and creatures lurking in the night, all working overtime to spotlight Nicole's personal growth. And let's not forget the magnetic attraction between her and Logan, which stretches across all my books like a delicious flavor tingling your... taste buds!

The Heart of My Story

By bringing these elements together, "Forgotten Storm" turned into an exciting story full of mystery, action, steamy romance, and self-discovery. Writing it gave me the chance to dive deep into my imagination while keeping it real with relatable challenges. The dynamic between Nicole's skeptical, coffee-loving vibe and Logan's loyal, dominant nature is what makes the story tick. Their journey feels as vivid and real to me as anything I've experienced in real life!
